(i love, love, love the flowers at disneyland. almost as much as i love the smell of churros and chocolate floating down main street...)

ah...disneyland. how many disneyland posts can a girl do? well, this is it, folks. my year-long pass has officially gone to heaven. maybe i should frame it. today my sisters and i decided to go to disneyland for the last hurrah. this was the weekend of nae's bridal shower (it was a tea and sooo much fun to do!) and mom left this morning to fly back home. jo's pregnant so although we had talked about going to dland earlier in the month, we knew she couldn't ride any of the 'real' rides (how sad to go and miss out on the newly reopened space mountain!) but then something happened this afternoon and we found ourselves piling into the car to go down to anaheim. "we'll just ride the kiddie rides!" we happily told ourselves. we got there and parked in the secret free parking lot (hehe) and walked in and then realized this was the first time we had ever been to dland (all three of us girls) without mom and dad. it was so strange and surreal.

we missed them a lot.

(you gotta love dland. these poor guys were probably having to fix the wiring for the fireworks show or something, but they had dress in their alpine costumes and 'rapel' up the side of the mountain to do so...hehe)

we drove the cars in autopia (and reminisced about how we all took the responsibility of driving those cars soo seriously as kids...i remember being sooo nervous that i'd crash. and, err, the car is on a Track. let's not even talk about how space mountain affected me), and rode casey junior and all the great rides in fantasy land...screamed on pirates of the caribbean and ate at the rain forest cafe (which was sooo loud we couldn't hear ourselves think, ah well.)...it was such a great day. :)

wow, over $10,000 worth of crafts have been donated to the crafters united fundraiser for the hurricane katrina relief effort. go there if you want to either donate or buy something. it is really encouraging to see people reaching out to help...

thanks for all your prayers--i finally heard from my friend who lives in new orleans. he and his family made it out of the city safely though they have lost so very much. please keep praying for them!

(the 'ruffled' edges are crochet...happiness!)

on a separate crafting note, the knifty knitter was busy during labor day as it whipped up its very first baby blanket! it was soo sweet! i'll post a picture when i get a chance. :) go knifty knitter...

i was watching the news this morning overwhelmed with the devastation that hurricane katrina has had in the south. i've only visited that area once in my life and remember that all along the freeway (for what seems like forever) are lakes and swamps and houses on stilts. one of my good friends lives down there and he talked about taking the boat, then the bus to school. i always imagined the children scrambling onto a school boat instead of a school bus and loved that image.

but now, everything is sitting under water.

a lot of people have stepped up in the crafting community to raise money for the red cross. if you have items that you would like to donate or if you want to bid on items to raise money, this is the place to go (it's part of the craft revolution site.) it's exciting that they have already passed the $2000 in donations mark!

thinking of and praying for all of you down there in nawlins...
